Rehabilitation for Disability
There are an estimated 16 million people with disabilities in Bangladesh, or 10% of the country’s population. The reasons for disabilities are diverse: inherent, accident, disease, old age etc. caused different types of disabilities among Bangladeshi individuals. Disability is both a cause and consequence of poverty. It is a cause because it can lead to job loss and reduced earnings, barriers to education and skills development, significant additional expenses, and many other challenges that can lead to economic hardship. It is also a consequence because poverty can limit access to health care and preventive services, and increase the likelihood that a person lives and works in an environment that may adversely affect health. In our country there are few organizations who work on it, but the quality services are not ensured properly. That’s why our disable people are denied to get their services to enriches their quality of life. So, we are looking forward to provide rehabilitation services to disable people. By which they can lead a sustain and quality life in mainstream society. Our targeted populations are patient with stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, amputation, geriatric condition, diabetic foot, congenital deformities also other neurological and muscular condition which leads to a patient towards disability. By providing evidence-based rehabilitation protocol we can minimizes the disability rates. For an example providing mobility aids such as wheelchair, crutches or any other prothesis and orthosis along with proper rehabilitation program we can make a bed bound patient mobile in community. So, we need an institute where these patients can get their services. Many of them need to stay for rehabilitation because its need to monitor continuously. If we can provide services with qualified rehab professionals then we can ensure to provide quality services to minimizes the rate of disability in Bangladesh. So, it is the prime time to work together for providing rehabilitation services to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within 2030.
