The Microenterprise Loan (MEL) Program of ARS-Bangladesh is designed to support the establishment and expansion of small businesses and microenterprises, creating sustainable income and employment opportunities for low-income entrepreneurs. Operating across 9 districts of Khulna Division, the program reached 15,839 beneficiaries and maintained an outstanding loan portfolio of BDT 28.05 million (Tk. 2,805.05 lakh) during 2024–2025. The program provided financial and technical support to a wide range of enterprises, including fish hatcheries, grocery shops, cycle parts businesses, medicine dispensaries, fertilizer and pesticide stores, tailoring enterprises, and other small businesses. By improving access to capital and business development services, the MEL Program has contributed to enterprise growth, increased household income, enhanced women’s participation in economic activities, and expanded self-employment opportunities across rural and semi-urban communities.
