Improved cook-stoves

Implemented with support from the World Bank Group and the Ministry of Finance in partnership with Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), the Improved Cook Stove (ICS) Project reached 462,000 beneficiaries across 9 upazilas in Jashore and Narail districts. With a total investment of BDT 204.94 million, the project promoted the adoption of energy-efficient cook stoves to reduce household fuel consumption, indoor air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Key interventions included the distribution of improved cook stoves, user training on proper operation and maintenance, community awareness campaigns on health and environmental benefits, and the development of local manufacturing and distribution networks. Over its ten-year implementation period (2013–2025), the project contributed to improved household health outcomes, enhanced energy efficiency, reduced dependence on traditional biomass fuels, and generated employment opportunities within local communities.
