ARS-Bangladesh is planning to establish a Wellness and Rehabilitation Center to address the growing need for accessible, high-quality rehabilitation services in Bangladesh. Although healthcare services have improved considerably, rehabilitation services remain limited, particularly outside major cities. Every year, thousands of people survive road traffic accidents, strokes, traumatic injuries, surgeries, and serious illnesses, yet many experience preventable disabilities due to delayed or inadequate rehabilitation. The proposed center aims to bridge the gap between medical treatment and long-term recovery by providing comprehensive, community-based rehabilitation services closer to where people live.
The center will be established on a 15-acre site at the Jashore–Narail junction, strategically located to serve Narail and surrounding districts, including Jashore, Khulna, Bagerhat, Magura, Faridpur, and Gopalganj. By reducing the need for patients to travel to Dhaka or other divisional cities, the center will make specialized rehabilitation services more affordable, accessible, and convenient for rural and semi-urban communities.
The center will provide multidisciplinary, evidence-based rehabilitation and wellness services through a coordinated team of rehabilitation professionals. Core services will include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, psychological services, rehabilitation nursing, individualized rehabilitation planning, and post-rehabilitation follow-up. Patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, fractures, amputations, neurological disorders, developmental disabilities, chronic pain, and age-related conditions will receive personalized care designed to restore mobility, communication, independence, and quality of life.
In addition, the project will establish a Residential Care Home to provide long-term care and rehabilitation support for older adults, children, and individuals who lack adequate family support. Community outreach and mobile rehabilitation services will extend care to remote and underserved populations, while awareness programs will promote disability prevention, early rehabilitation, and healthy living.
To ensure long-term sustainability, ARS-Bangladesh will invest in research, patient outcome evaluation, and capacity building for local rehabilitation professionals. The organization will also strengthen partnerships with hospitals, government health programs, NGOs, academic institutions, and international organizations to improve service quality and expand access to rehabilitation.
Through this initiative, ARS-Bangladesh aims to create a sustainable center of excellence that delivers integrated rehabilitation and wellness services, reduces preventable disability, promotes independence and dignity, and enables people to lead healthier, more productive, and socially inclusive lives.
